Biography

In 1975, when Paul Haullussy (Moluccan background) was only 10 years old, he picked up the bass guitar of his father and tried to play “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” of the Rolling Stones. He started a band (Lightfeet) with a classmate (drums) and his neighbour (guitar) and welcomed 2 years later another friend on guitar. His main influences at that time were: Golden Earring, Boston, Van Halen, Herman Brood & His Wild Romance and AC/DC.

After playing bass and singing in a rock band for 7 years, he was seeking for a bigger challenge on bass, so he stepped into the just form Moluccan latin funk band Delano. The music was heavily influenced by Massada and Santana. His main influences at that time for his bass playing were: Stanley Clarke, Mark King (Level 42) and David Margen (Santana).

In 1984, Paul visited a music expo to see Mark King at work, giving a bass clinic. The headliner of the day would be Vandenberg, that just had a worldwide hitsingle with “Burning Heart”. The show opened with a lot of smoke, red and light spotlights, a funerall tolling bell from hell, thunder… At that moment, I realised that I have been playing the wrong instrument in the wrong music scene! He quit from Delano, put the bass in the case and stopped playing in bands.

Three years later, he decided to sell his bass and bought his (at that time) dream guitar: a red Fender Stratocaster. At the age of 22, he started to become a guitar player, mainly blues at that time. Main influences: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower. He started a blues band with his fellow students and had 1 gig, before they stopped, due to a long lasting injury of the drummer.

After a few years practicing in the bedroom, Paul felt confident enough to be a metal lead guitarist, he started the 5-piece Moluccan hard rock / heavy metal band Kerazz. After their first and successful gig, the band quit in 2001, due to private circumstances. Paul stopped playing guitar.

After a motorcycling carreer, he met 2 colleagues (still his buddies) who also loved metal: one of them playing bass and the other drums. They formed a hard rock / metal cover band (order2Crash) in 2011, that transformed into Steel Digger and AC/DShe (very succesfull cover AC/DC cover band). After quitting Steel Digger due to musical discussions, Paul started Mrs. Crowley, a Ozzy Osbourne cover band. After 2 years and 1 gig, the Covid-19 period made an end to all band aspirations.

That corona era made Paul decide to start a new project: Haullistic.

Paul’s main influences are: Gary Moore, Eddie van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, George Lynch, John Norum and Zakk Wylde.

Paul’s favorite artist are further more: Symphony X, Van Halen (-1984), Ozzy Osbourne (Zakk Wylde era), Primal Fear, Dokken & Lynch Mob and AC/DC (-1980).
